East Coast Roadshow (ft Perth)

June 25 to July 12 : Brisbane

The Roadshow kicks off in the city of Brisbane (my home town, and home to the all conquering Queensland State of Origin Maroons).  Queensland’s tour itinerary includes stops at QUT, Griffith University and the University of Queensland. Griffith is the epicentre of the spread of social marketing in South East Queensland as the first course in Social Marketing started up in 1994. It’s also where I trained as an honours and PhD student before starting my academic career by lecturing Social Marketing.   QUT is going to be my home away from ANU home for six weeks after the Roadshow as a I  return for an Outside Studies Program research visit.

July 13 to July 27: Melbourne

The tour moves south with conference dates in Melbourne, and a fortnight of frenzied activity follows with it.  Starting the show with the International Non Profit and Social Marketing conference (July 15-16), and a host of research interviews, the tour features stops at La Trobe University, Monash University, Swinburne University of Technology, The University of Melbourne and Victoria University

July 27-August01: Sydney

A lightning stop in Sydney with a side trip to the University of Woolongong will be the test of mind over cabcharges as I try to cram visits to Macquarie University, The University of New South Wales, The University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney and University of Western Sydney into a four day window of opportunity.  Just when I think it’s almost time to breath, comes the last leg of the tour…

August 1 to August 10: Perth

The East Coast Roadshow’s geographically expanded understanding of “East Coast” stretches the limit with a cross-country trek to Perth for a week of interviews at Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University and The University of Western Australia.  West Australia is the home of Professor Rob Donovan (the other Australian nominated in the World Social Marketing Championship side) two Social Marketing research centres, and a host of social marketing academics.  Five days, one presentation and a lot of cab rides should close out the Western end of the East Coast tour in style and paperwork.

Of course, every good national tour needs merchandising
